Reason #58506 why I like living in a rural community
Filed in BlogFrom the Freecycle list:
Okay, I know this sounds strange. In October I was at my Dad’s house. He lives a few doors down from me in some duplexes. The back of our duplexes are backed up to the I-5 freeway, off of March Lane. We heard a bird chirping loud. Then, my Dad’s terrier is chasing a small white thing. It is a baby chick. So, long story short, (too late) I am a chicken’s mother. My children really enjoy it, but it has become too much work. And we live in the CITY. It is time for the chicken to live on a farm. If you are interested in a black and white hen (as far as I know it is a hen, it is about 4 months old and has not crowed yet, but clucks like crazy; I am pretty sure it is too young to lay eggs, and I have not tried to feed it any Layena) I can email pictures, and the chicken comes with the remaining food, a waterer, and a feeder.
There were apparently many offers.
I do not think you would get a request like this in Sunnyvale.

You might in Hayward. There are chickens just around the corner from where my daughter goes to day care (and just down hill from a snarf).

Cool! Yes, there’s a big difference between the East and the South Bays. The East still has some spare land that hasn’t been built on…the energy always felt a bit better to me there.
