Seven random things about me

Filed in Blog

I was tagged for this meme by Sherrie of Sticky Apple Kisses. Actually, she tagged Raven’s RV, but this is the blog where the occasional meme might show up, so I’m going to do it here. So there. ;)

  1. I am a chronic nail-biter. I’ve had periods when I haven’t bitten my nails, but they’ve been pretty short. In general, I find long nails annoying because they get full of oil and dirt and then when I clean them out they break. But that’s not why I bite my nails. I bite them because I’m a nail-biter.

  2. I really dislike fresh raw tomatoes, but like them cooked. I love ketchup. I’ve got to the point now where if there’s a tomato in a burger I’ll probably eat it, but not if it has any tomato flavor (you know that most fast food tomatoes have no flavor.)

I enjoyed Attack of the Killer Tomatoes too.

  3. I was almost born in a car. In fact, I was born around five minutes after arrival at the hospital.

  4. When I was a kid, like all girls of a certain age, I wanted to go horse-riding. I had exactly ten lessons at the local stables. In lesson nine, I fell off the same rather large horse twice. I went back for lesson ten–and they had me cantering. It was way too fast and I quit because of that, not because of falling off.

And then, years later, I became a motorcyclist. Go figure.

  5. I have always loved cats, and cats have always loved me. However, I didn’t get my first cat until I was 27. I was not pet-deprived, however: I had a goldfish called Goldie, two mice (Ebony and Ivory) and a guinea pig, Smudge, while I was growing up.

  6. I have a degree in French and German, and once spoke both languages fluently. If I had taken Spanish, instead, I would probably still be speaking it fluently. I did take one year of Spanish, however. It’s like French, only easier.

  7. I got my introduction to history as a child when I got to crawl through ancient burial mounds. I have been fascinated by stone circles and ancient sites from when I saw my first one, aged about eight. There’s still a picture of me somewhere at my parent’s home.
