On a scale of 1-10…
Filed in Blog, Daily Image
…How much does a cut requiring four stitches rate?
We spent the day at the storage shed, and the evening at the urgent care clinic. Don sliced his hand on a yukky old nail, so in we went for cleaning, stitching and a tetanus booster. Two and a half hours and a minimum of $300 later(*), he was all fixed up.
I got to see a wound being stitched for the first time.
It could have been a lot worse. But we’re not looking forward to the bill.
(*) It costs $300 just to be seen. If we’d arrived after the clinic was closed, we’d have needed the ER, where it’s $600 just to be seen. I hope that the next president has a darn good policy for fixing America’s monstrous healthcare system.

Ouch! Is it healing well? So sorry to hear about the expected bill too. Oof.

$300-600? Oof! For all our complaining, I do love me the Canadian Health Care system! Flash the health card, see the doc, go home. Easy peasy.

BR–It healed nicely. We got to it in time and the Nurse Practitioner was very competent.

Just over $600 in the end. The $300-$600 was a minimum charge ($300 for the clinic, $600 for the ER!)
