May blossom
Filed in Blog, Daily Image
Judging from the sweet, heady scent, this could be a type of jasmine. It reminds me of the house we lost, in part because of the small deck oozing with sweet star jasmine. Either way–summer is coming.

It’s honeysuckle, hon. If you pick on of the “flowers” and carefully pinch a bit of the end of the stem off, there will be a little tiny stem inside the tube. Carefullly pull that out, and it will come out coated with a drop of honey. A child’s delight!! Ok, mine too.
PS. Don’t do this to honeysuckle growing in landscaped conditions, where it is possible it was sprayed with something nasty. Only do it to honesuckle growing free and wild!

Wren said exactly what I was going to say. Spent many days as a child standing by our back fence sucking the honey out of these blossoms. I see why bees like them.

Neat, Wren! This is definitely landscaped, so I’ll try to refrain from sucking. ;)

Becky–I’ve never done that :) I’ll have to have a play sometime where I know they haven’t been sprayed.
