Blather around a virtual range

I’m really getting sick of spam. Ground down by it, even. Every day I moderate at least a hundred thoroughly nasty messages, having to glance my eye over things that make me sick, want to throw up. I use Thunderbird for my email and have trained it well to sweep the worst email offerings directly into trash; with Akismet, though, I need to run through each message as sometimes it sweeps up legitimate comments into the trash pile.

I have to wonder what goes through these people’s minds. Quite possibly it’s nothing. They produce messages that reek of malaise and evil. Sometimes they hide under the guise of real comments. Sometimes they beg not to be moderated because they “genuinely like my site.” They thrive on an industry of lies and nastiness. How do they imagine that any of it is ever effective? How do they think their vast blocks of ugly text, their enormous lists of links, will ever make it through a filter into the cold light of day?

It makes me sick to be dragged into this disgusting world on a daily basis.
