This has not been my day

Bureaucracy

I hate bureaucracy. I hate it when people tell me I’m wrong just because they happen to have not seen my situation before.

The day started off so well. The guy dealing with my sales tax questions got the giggles when I mentioned Lodi, and an otherwise bureaucratic task was made nicer. I didn’t have too much fun calling up newspapers for quotes, but I did the half an hour I spent saved $15, which is a reasonable rate of return.

Remember, I’m frugal: saving $15 with half an hour’s work is like earning $30. If you save $15 twice an hour, you don’t need to earn that $30. If I could really earn $30 about 70 times a month I’d actually be making a living.

But then I discovered that paperwork I filed months ago hadn’t gone through properly, so I’d have to go downtown, print forms, and mail them. And my post office box was full of junk mail and the previous owner’s mail. And the rest of my business did not, really, go that well at all.

So what it all comes down to is this: I’m very disappointed to still have bureaucratic stuff in my inbox.
