Blogathon (Day of Blogs) 2008

With my magnificent organization-fu skills I have left this to the last minute, but it worked last year so why fuss over the details. ;)

I am taking part in the 2008 blogathon/Day of Blogs alternathon to raise money for Christian Children’s Fund. This means that starting at 7pm Pacific time tomorrow (26th July) I will be blogging twice an hour and asking for pledges. I have yet to decide whether I’m just going to ask you to donate directly at the CCF site or whether I will set up a pledge/donation site at one of the catchall charity gateways, but rest assured if I haven’t put up an info page before the ‘thon starts, I will do so shortly after.

I will be turning off cross-posting for almost all the posts, so LJers don’t need to adjust.

The theme this year is Ask Me Stuff. Basically, I want you to ask me questions. Keep them PG13 and I will answer. They can be things like “What’s your favorite food” or “Name 7 desserts you like” or something else that you might think is interesting.

If any of you want to promote your businesses by donating a prize, I would be happy to run contests during the event.

I need:

Chocolate (virtual chocolate will do, especially if you describe it to me in great and excrutiating detail)
Help getting the word out, i.e. please link to me (and I will do a gratitude post with links back after I recover a bit)
Prizes
Comments to keep me awake
Questions to keep me awake
Encouragement
And, of course, donations/pledges NONE of which should come directly to me.

Last year was a hoot! I had a grand old time and raised over $200 for CCF. Please come join in the festivities and keep me awake. :)

You’re in the Eastern time zone, aren’t you? For you, I start at 10pm tonight, Saturday. I probably won’t have too much trouble getting through the night: it’s Sunday afternoon where I will really be struggling. *grin*

I’m going to try to be around to give you polite kicks-in-the-butt while you’re doing this. I’ve got some questions brewing in my head, and I have a used copy of “The Da Vinci Code” audiobook (13 CDs) you could give away if that’s a good enough prize.

actually… you’re supposed to be starting at 6 pm PST. 2100 = 9:00 pm EST.

EST is Eastern Standard Time. We’re on summertime (EDT for you, PDT for me) which is an hour later (7pm). And in fact, it’s moot, because I’m laaaaate. Our motorhome broke down on the way home.

Either way, I do not expect you to stick around until 8pm (my time) tomorrow night :: grin :: which is what I’m gonna have to do to make my full 24 hours. :)

O, so I’m a bit confused with the time zones, and which blog and exactly what you need, but I’ll try to keep up, and hopefully, be of some help. :)

Well, it’s 10 before 3 in the morning for me right now, I’m on post 13 of 49, 49 being the one I will post saying “I’m done, I’m going to bed” a long, long time in the future. ;)
