Filed in BlogI’m writing this a little in advance, since I don’t know where I’ll be on Sunday (other than down at the storage shed). I really must say that with the exception of a fun group snarfari on Tuesday (::waves at Amber, Kat and the absent WanderingRaleighite::) this week has sucked.
The heat has been fierce and it’s killing my brain. 103, 104 the last couple of days. I can’t deal with it and the sleeplessness it brings. We haven’t been making it down to the shed until the afternoon so we’ve made little progress. Distractions have included Don gashing his hand and needing four stitches, and the generator’s exhaust manifold breaking.
I was expecting to have cleared one shed by now. We’re not even close. The whole thing is bringing back associative nightmares (daymares?) from the move last year. On top of this I’ve had some business paperwork to pull off which is a feat in itself when the RV, without a/c for the most part, hits a hundred by noon. I’m finding it nearly impossible to work.
Sure, we’ve been finding wireless, but I can’t write or program when I’m this darn hot. It requires actual thinking, and we’re usually not online long enough to get into anything. And even if we were the only thing we should be getting into is the shed. I’m writing this from the comfort of a campground with hookups, i.e. air conditioning because it was either that or collapse in a gibbering molten heap.
Allegedly it’s going to cool down significantly over the next few days. It had better. I’m finding it very hard to frame this in any way where it could possibly be fun/an adventure/a useful experience. ;)
Update Sunday morning: I may have found the tipping point. Staying at places where we can run the a/c has helped a lot. So has the temperature dropping 20 degrees. The first shelving unit is built and we should be able to stack it today.
