Filed in BlogRemember that cryptic reference to a sword hanging over my head, last week? It went away. All by itself.
There are times when I can ride the waves, and times when I bog down in the small details and rubbish that life throws at me. Lately, I seem more bogged down than anything else. I reach for that higher ground, but it seems like it’s just out of reach. It sucks. Maybe some nice quiet time and some long hikes will help me get my head on straight.
This week has been about getting ready to leave. We did not get our satellite equipment, so some degree of offlineness is probable. Even if we do get the equipment, it’s not at all guaranteed that we can get a signal up there in the mountains. It’ll definitely be fun to find out. ;)
My bike decided that this was the week its fuel pump was going to conk out, so we had to take the seat and side cover off, take the pump out, and scrape corroded gunk off the contacts. The thing operates just like a heart (with only one chamber). Fuel comes in from the tank, an electric current makes it pulse, and fuel squirts into the carburetor. Plink! Riding happens. It took maybe an hour to fix.
We also changed the tire on Don’s bike, and mine will be done next week. I’m going to ride up behind him as we go on our merry way to Paradise. I said farewell to the folks at the Sanctuary, and decided to give up sugar. I weigh 193.5 pounds right now which is headed in the right direction, but much, much too slowly.
I did not expect, when I walked into Starbucks on Saturday, to bump into Laura, an old friend from the Wind Dancers. The wyrd–that woven web that reminds one that everything is interlinked–is definitely very prevalent in my life, with lots of little coinkidinks and “signs” that act in a way as guide-posts.
Best part of the week for me was a mega-snarfari with Amber in Old Sacramento. I figured that when my carefully plotted map was whisked out of my bag and tossed into the road by a flirtatious wind that I was supposed to just wing it, and I did. It was much more fun that way. ;)
