Filed in BlogOh look! It’s Sunday again. And November! Gee, November. It came in with a BANG–three inches of rain on Hallowe’en, and several more since. Today we made a mad dash down to the post office to pick up our mail, and only got sprinkled on a little. I went out for a walk in the morning and took pictures of sparkly droplets hanging off pine trees.
Speaking of pines, they are rapidly shedding everything they possibly can. The cats don’t like the sound of the rain on the roof, but they like the frequent thuds of dropping pine cones even less. And the needles continue to fall and make a wet, slippery carpet. Before the rain I raked a bunch out of the way as I figured we’d need to ride somewhere sooner than it would stop raining. Then Mother Nature blew them all back across the path again, because she’s funny like that. ;)
From a work point of view, I’ve had quite the fun week. If I had another week to go at it like this last one, I would be done with logging landmarks and the Catalog by next Sunday. But I don’t; there are a few distractions next week, a road trip we have to take, an election, a party–that kind of thing.
And probably, from the way my back was cramping this morning, that’s a good idea. But I’ve achieved some really fun stuff and even had fun doing it. I also started NaNoWriMo, am currently on track, and am writing a bizarre pseudo-novel that is rapidly turning into a rather flowery version of the Markeroni manual I promised myself I’d write this year.
In fact, I’ve come full circle because starting the manual is what started off the revamp, Markeroni v.4, because I realized that I had to get the 1800+ files consolidated into something more reasonable before I started documenting them, not after.
Kerry was away and had a house-sitter, Gavin, whom we invited around for pizza. The trouble is that we had to go down to Redding first; we were almost out of propane. It took us three days to get organized enough to leave because really we just wanted to put down roots for a while. So we went down to Redding, leaving at three, and arrived at our propane source ten minutes after they closed. That clinched it; we’d be staying the night, which we did, at the Redding RV Park, since Redding’s Wal-Mart won’t let you overnight.
We finally had the pizza on Thurday, sitting outdoors in the cold–the first half of the week it had been 80-some in the afternoon, and now it was down in the fifties. Brrr.
But it was a very good pizza, and it’s been a good week.
