The first part of this week was pretty much taken over by the Blogathon. I had some great support from my friends but I have to say I struggled with it so much more than last year. It wasn’t just that I’d already had quite an “exciting” day before starting it; it was also that there was so much less community for the late shift than there was for the earlier, and I really enjoyed that last year. Actually, I consider Blogathon 2007 to have been my induction into the outer blogosphere, and what a year it’s been since then…

Don and I both got sick, probably with food poisoning due to a fridge that didn’t cool our meat well enough and quickly enough. This was a bummer because I finally managed to make a meatloaf that stuck together and resembled a meatloaf instead of meatcrumbs. We got over it after a day or so but it’s sure making me rethink the whole concept of once-a-month cooking. I had to toss out almost $30’s worth of ingredients. I’m rather disappointed. :(

Someone very dear to us from whom we hadn’t heard in several years suddenly popped up out of the woodwork. :)

We’ve been looking after the critters for a few days–it’s not hard work, just making sure there’s water and food and listening to the adoring chorus of welcoming animal sounds as we drag hay and kibble around. ;) It’s rather nice to have a physical, outdoors task to do. Actually, I’m going to have one heck of a task soon–I got the go-ahead to lay out a labyrinth here and have been looking at instructions. It would help if we could find the tape measure. ;)

My programming and writing is going reasonably well. I’ve had some ideas about funding Markeroni which basically boils down to “offer more for less.” Gee, that’s original. ;) I’ve also put in some new features that might actually go live by the 5th anniversary. This month is usually Tell Everyone About Markeroni Month but I might put that off until September simply so I can get the reworked, more user-friendly logging system in. I’m kind of excited and proud of what I’m doing and really hope that the changes will be received favorably…I actually want to rush off and put them in now but I know that will create more of a nightmare in terms of fixing bugs and answering cries for help. ;)
