Filed in BlogBig ch-ch-changes this week.
We got a little stuck in Lodi because my bike’s inner tube was being a poop. ;) The tube had been patched before, and after we did all the tire changing, which, incidentally, is a pain in the posterior, it went flat again. This cycle continued for several days as we tried fix-a-flat and eventually had to take the tube out again and patch the new leak (which was an old, flaky patch) and generally waste a metric buttload of time.
The trouble with arriving in a town with “Stuck in Lodi” running through your mind is that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Finally, against my own better judgement, we set out north anyway. The tire appeared to be holding air, but I insisted on a detour to Cycle Gear to get a new tube. (It also turned out that Cycle Gear had transformed itself into a superstore at a new location, so I got to gawk at that too).
On the way up I got the dual pleasure of a wonderful snarfari in Marysville coupled with a visit with Angela, long-time friend whom I first met during my trip to Texas in 2005. Once again I’m reminded of how important it is to meet actual friendly faces along the way of a road trip. Travel can be isolating, and these points of friendship help remind you that you’re not alone.
Soon we will be in “Paradise.” :)

Thanks! I think it was because of a bad tag, but it looks like it’s fixed now. I think.
