Filed in BlogLast Sunday I attended the sanctuary (Unitarian Universalist church, but the santuary hereafter). I stayed for the coffee and chat and met some neat people, aware that in my ramblings I need to get out more. One of the ladies had a lemon tree and was giving away lemons, so I brought some home.
On Monday, I rode to Sunnyvale to pick up my mail and close out my mailbox, only to find out that it was a government holiday and the post office was closed. I did have a nice visit with Barb, though, and gave her the lemons.
I guess that’s it for Sunnyvale, now, because I handed in my final change of address. I wonder how much mail will be lost in the meanwhile…and if the next person to have that post office box will be kind and forward the mail just as I am doing for the stray mail at my current mailbox in Lodi.
We’re in the middle of another storm system right now. It came in on Tuesday, took Wednesday off so that we could see the eclipse, and then returned with a vengeance on Thursday. But that’s okay. We had a good run of nice days in the sixties with blue skies. It is supposed to blow itself out over the next couple of days and then we get good weather again.
I’m plotting a snarfari.
Today was the first Stockton/San Joaquin County Book Crossing meetup which happened because Amber PMed 300 locals one at a time. It was a resounding success and I really enjoyed it. I met/re-met a couple of very long-time net friends who came over from Sacramento and Yuba City respectively. (That’s a 100/200 mile round trip, respectively.)
I don’t know how to phrase this exactly, but I “resigned” this week from the potential North American Book Crossing committee. We were trying to get together a convention in San Francisco for July, but as it’s now nearly March and either nothing has been done or nobody’s told me what is going on, I feel it’s too late. I don’t want to subject myself to any more rushing and unnecessary stress. Maybe a mega-meeting will arise sometime later in the year, maybe not, but not a full-blown convention with speakers, hotels, food and events.
In other news, I’m feeling much more centered, though presumably I’m going to need something to fill my time–a job or volunteer work. Something to focus me more sharply. This month we were working on a new method of budgeting and I was quite disappointed to go over. It won’t be by much, but we can definitely do better. Ah well, it’s a learning experience.
Things that are currently on my mind: Very Short Introduction books; paperwork; why my tax preparer still hasn’t answered my emails; how come my cat can hang onto the back of the seat without falling off, i.e. how can she seemingly defy gravity; video blogging; catching up on my landmark logs. There’s probably more, but I’m getting tired.
